((AnGeL x WiNgS)) I am not positive on how popular Final Fantasy IV is compared to the other games in the Final Fantasy series. What I do know is, is that Final Fantasy IV is as popular as Final Fantasy VI in the oldschool section of the FF series. But even so, I'm quite sure Final Fantasy VI is still in first place in terms of people's opinion about the old FF games. I believe that FFIV is the second most popular.
Either way, Final Fantasy IV is indeed my favorite old school Final Fantasy game. [I refer old school as Final Fantasy 1 through 6.] Perhaps it's because it was my first old 2-D however-so-bit game. Even after playing Final Fantasy VI, somehow, Final Fantasy IV had always had a place in my heart. I believe the story was very nicely played, and although people b*tch about the difficulty level on the Playstation version [the one which I own], I enjoyed its freakishly tremendous amount of frustrating moments. [Okay, so not really...]
But since the beginning and since the introduction of Rydia ---- one of the five main characters/party members of the game--- I've grown to like her. She's definitely one of my favorite female characters if it weren't for Aeris or Rinoa. [I can't say just favorite characters because my favorite characters are male with Cloud's being at the top followed by Squall]. In fact, she might be my favorite female character in the whole game series. However, I always hit the "OH, now my favorite character is -insert name-" syndrome depending on which FF game I play. Currently, I'm replaying FFIV, so it's safe to say that Rydia's my favorite female character at this moment.
When the DS remake was coming out, I was literally floored and at the same time very disappointed. I do not own a Nintendo DS. But that's not the current problem as it's been quite a while and Square had yet to release any information on the remake and whether if it's going to be released outside of Japan. [it's already out in Japan]. Anyway, I was completely satisfied with ALL of the character's designs!!! Cecil was perfect like I imagined--- so was Rosa and Rydia. [Also Edge and Kain. Although... Kain's name has changed to Cain? And you can't tell how Kain looks like in the first place, so there's really not much to say. xD] However, Rydia, being my favorite female character of the game, caught my attention the most. So basically, this is homage to Final Fantasy IV. =D
The design didn't take long. The instance I saw this picture of Rydia on Final Fantasy IV's main site, I was convinced that I must draw something on her hand! In particularly--- a bright magic spell. So I did. The rest just came along the way. The title "Mystic" was based on my old layout of Rydia which featured an artist's depiction of her. I was unaware at the time that she was just from the village of the Mist... and she was never called a Mystic [correct me if I was wrong]. I guess it just hit my head that she should be called by that certain label from now on. xD
My third tabled layout! Should align PERFECTLY on Firefox with the exception of the background. I can't seem to align that. It's always one pixel off. >_<
